Feedback for Les
Liked & did not like
During the classes, there were many things I liked. First of all, students used some vocabulary words to write sentences. After writing, the teacher could aid students to check grammar and the meaning of the words in the sentences. I think that it was a best way to improve students’ grammar. The second was related to making a blog. Students could utilize blog to describe their thought and expression. For example, writing my learning strategies and how could I do differently in the second half semester. After writing, the teacher could give students some feedback and advice. It could make a good communication between students and teacher. On the contrary, I did not like to write essays. When I wrote an essay, I needed to think many details and support ideas. It was difficult to me, but I know that writing a wonderful essay is very important in academic courses. I will try to create more ideas as soon as I can.

Suggestions to do differently
I suggest to change the essay topics because some topics are difficult to write such as medicines. Although I read the textbook and researched some information from the interment, I still needed to spend much time to think about ideas. Because students did not comprehend medical systems deeply, they should take long time to think about what these medical systems are different. I suggest that the teacher can change some easy topics because easy topics can let students have more support ideas and details to develop the essays.

Final AP4 reflective
I feel that my writing and vocabulary words get better than before during this semester. Because the teacher taught me how to write the correct outlines, and the teacher also checked my ideas which are right or wrong. I think that it is a good way to improve my writing. Moreover, there are many vocabulary words in the textbooks. When I read the articles in the textbooks, I can remember many vocabulary words which I did not know before. As a result, both of two ways have improved my writing and vocabulary words.

Learning plan for December to February

During these three months, I want to join IELES test again. So I need to practice listening, reading, writing and speaking. This prepare is difficult to me. I participated in IELES test last year. When I listened IELES test, I needed to understand what the radio say and wrote down right vocabulary words. After IELES test, I knew my listening was extremely poor, so I asked my teacher and people who joined IELES before. Many people gave me a useful strategy which can get a high mark in listening. First of all, I will try to listen the radio and take a note. That means that I should write down all the radio say, not just fill in blank space of test paper. The second strategy is related to adding vocabulary. There are many difficult vocabulary words in reading. If I do not comprehend the meaning of those vocabulary words, I probably can not find the answers. The third step is to practice my writing. Introduction, conclusion and details are very important in writing, so I need to practice them. After practicing, I should find someone who has a better writing skill to help me to check my grammar and details. Forth, speaking is also important in IELES test which has different topics. In order to get better mark, I can find a teacher who can correct my pronunciation. Finally, I will read some free newspaper in Vancouver because I will live one month with my brother in Vancouver on December. Some people stand in front of skytrain exit to distribute some free newspapers. I think that it is a good way to practice my English and add vocabulary words.

Learning in Canada and Taiwan

What are different learning between Canadian students and Taiwanese students? In order to achieve their goals, both of countries’ students use different learning methods such as tests, copy and homework. These methods are not only let students comprehend different learning atmosphere but also know different study environment between these two countries.

Many universities and high school in Canada and Taiwan have different learning methods. In Taiwan, the majority of students have many tests especially, people who study in high school. In order to get a good mark to study top university in Taiwan, students make all-out effort to study reference books because students should accept many tests and quizzes in school. On the other hand, in Canada, although students also study very hard, they do not have many tests because schools emphasize that students need to get some social experience in society rather than only study on reference books and get a good mark in schools. As a result, tests and quizzes in Taiwan are more than Canada.

Copying in Canada and Taiwan have different perspective. In Canada, professors can not allow students to copy any sentences from reference books or internet because professors hope students can acquire how to use their own words and ideas to write their homework and essay. It can aid students to do well in their studying. However, in Taiwan, copying was allowed in universities. Teachers and professors think that students can learn the author’s ideas, thought express through copying. For example, before I graduated from university, I needed to hand in graduation thesis to teacher. At that time, I did not know how to do, and I went to find my teacher. He gave me a model essay and told me you can copy some useful ideas and sentences. As a consequence, copying in Taiwan is allowed, but copying in Canada is cheating.

Both of these countries’ students need to do much homework which can help them to acquire more knowledge and skills. In Taiwan, in order to get a good mark during midterm and final exams, students utilize much homework to practice in their daily life. They prefer to find a quiet place to do their homework alone. When exams come, students have enough practice to face examinations. In the same way, in Canada, professors give students much homework, so Canadian students do homework every day for the sake of graduation. Students like to stay in library to study or do homework with their classmates or friends. It is easy way to discuss and resolve their homework’s problems. Although Canadian and Taiwanese students have different methods of doing homework, these two countries’ students have much homework in every day life.

In conclusion, students in universities and high schools accept different learning methods between Canada and Taiwan. Even through some learning methods in Taiwan are different with Canada, doing much homework is students’ responsibility in these two countries. Both of countries’ students can understand different learning atmosphere and study environment by these three learning methods.
